I am a chess coach and cognitive development specialist. My chess journey began with my father's rigorous training, where we played over 1,000 matches before I earned my first win against him. That kind of relentless practice instilled the discipline and resilience that still shape my coaching style today.
When I first joined my chess club, I was outmatched by every player there. I kept showing up anyway. Within a year, I wasn't just holding my own against my peers, I was beating the instructors too and went on to compete in the highly competitive unranked division at the Texas State Tournament, finishing 11th.
I do more than teach the game. I help students develop strategic thinking, problem-solving ability, and mental resilience, skills that translate directly into success both on and off the board.
With a thorough grounding in chess theory, tactics, and competitive play, I tailor my coaching to each player's strengths and learning style, whether they're beginners learning the fundamentals or advanced players working toward mastery.
My academic background is in Neuroscience & Psychology, where I graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Dallas, a program with fierce academic competition from students across the globe. I held my own there while also standing out as an active member of the university's chess club.
That neuroscience background eventually led me to write Stardust Mind: The Quantum Blueprint of Human Consciousness, a book exploring how the brain builds understanding, patterns, and meaning, the same underlying processes I draw on every day in coaching. Chess, at its core, is a live demonstration of how the mind learns to recognize patterns, weigh decisions, and adapt under pressure, and writing the book deepened how I think about teaching all three.
Chess is more than a game to me, it's mental training and a genuine metaphor for life. Through structured lessons, game analysis, and personalized training plans, I help students strengthen critical thinking, decision-making under pressure, pattern recognition, and patience. These are skills that matter as much in business and life as they do at the board.
I've coached players of every age, from young prodigies to adult learners, helping them raise their ratings, compete with confidence, and build a lasting passion for the game. My approach blends classical chess principles with modern methodology, so students stay sharp in an ever-evolving competitive landscape.
